A Critical Study on Screen Time and Psychosomatic Health of Future Learners

The excessive usage of digital devices has raised the issue of the impact of exposure to digital screens on the psychosomatic health of the younger generation. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the existing literature on the relationship between screen time and psychosomatic health in future learners. The paper aids in understanding the screen time on various developments, namely cognitive-emotional and behavioural, and enlightens about the vulnerable risks in the involvement of excessive screen time on the psychosomatic health of children and adolescents. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. A standardised and well-constructed questionnaire designed by investigators was administered to a sample of 150 children and adolescents aged 8-18 years to gather data on their screen time habits and psychosomatic health. In-depth interviews were also conducted with 50 parents and educators to gather qualitative data on their perceptions of the impact of screen time on psychosomatic health. The results of the study showed that excessive screen time is associated with a range of negative effects on psychosomatic health, including cognitive delay, emotional disturbances, behavioural problems, sleep disturbances, and physical health problems. The study highlights the need for parents, educators, and policymakers to take a proactive approach to reducing screen time and promoting healthy screen use habits among children and adolescents. The paper concludes by emphasising the importance of addressing the issue of screen time and psychosomatic health and highlights the need for future research to explore the long-term effects of screen time on psychosomatic health.
